Basic Instructions for Using This is intended as an easy-to-use document for inexperienced users of the sound system. Turn the system onFirst, turn on the sound equipment in the sound booth: Turn on the power strip for the desk, located at the right just under the work surface. Turn on the power strip for the gray cabinet to the right, located at the top right of the cabinet. Make sure the "MonA", "MonB", and "Main" outputs are muted. (The what?) The outputs are on the center module on the board, down at the bottom. There are 11 faders in a row across the bottom, and the three last faders are labeled "MonA", "MonB", and "Main". Each of these outputs have a Mute button at the top of the fader. Push the button in to light the red "mute" light; this prevents damage to the speakers in the next step where you turn on the amplifiers. (Hide this.)Next, turn on the sound equipment in the electrical room. (Where?) The electrical room is on the back hallway. If you start at the outside glass doors, the doors on the left side are for the church office, the preschool office, the usher's closet, the electrical room, the custodian's closet, and the bathrooms. You will need someone with a church key to open the door for you. When you do, you will see a gray metal cabinet hanging from the wall by the door, and this cabinet contains the sound equipment.(Hide this.)Turn on, in order: The red switch on the black power strip at the top The black switch on the silver "Bose" strip in the middle (which should have been left on) The black switch on the Crown 480 amplifier next to the bottom The black switch on the Crown 800 amplifier at the bottom Bring up the Mono outputWhen you turned on the board, you muted the Main output before turning on the amps. Now press the "Mute" button for the fader labeled "Main" so that the main speakers will be operational. Choose your inputsIf you are using a microphone, the controls for it may be located in the left modules, but more likely are located in the right modules. If you want to use the microphone on the floor by the steps of the chancel area, that mic is labeled "Solo3", and is on the fifth slider from center on the right side. If you want to use a wireless microphone, those mics are on the right module channels labeled "W'lessA", "W'lessB", etc. (Where are they?) The wireless microphones are kept in pouches, and there is a little wooden cube on each zipper tab that has the letter for that wireless. The letter is also on a label on the back of the belt pack. These pouches are kept on a shelf in the gray sound cabinet located just right of the sound desk.If you don't know which mic to select, use Wireless B, because its controls are the easiest to understand. On the top of the belt pack is a sliding switch for power "off/on", and a toggle switch for "mute/on." When the power switch is on, the green LED should light (and if it doesn't, replace the 9 volt battery with one from the top white drawer under the desk at the far left.) When you want to talk, move the toggle switch to "on", and if you don't want to be heard, turn it to "mute."(Hide this.) When you have chosen a microphone and found the corresponding channel, Slide the fader for that channel down to beside the "-50" indicator, just to be safe. Push the "Mute" button at the top of that fader to make the red "mute" light go off. (If the light comes on, push the "Mute" button again.) If you are using a wireless and pressing the "Mute" button doesn't make the red light go off... it is because the "Mute Scene B" button is down, which mutes all the wireless mics. The four "Mute Scene" buttons are just to the right of the Mono fader in the middle section; press the "Mute Scene B" button to turn off the muting, and, if needed, press the wireless mic channel's mute button again. Slowly slide the fader for that channel up to the volume you want; if you get feedback, slide the fader back down a little bit until feedback stops. If you are using the CD player (which sits on top of the gray sound cabinet to the right of the board), the controls for it are with the five "stereo" controls located at the top of the middle module. The CD player's channel is the right-most of the five faders. Slide the fader for that channel down to beside the "-50" indicator. Push the "Mute" button at the top of that fader to make the red "mute" light go off. (If the light comes on, push the "Mute" button again.) Start the CD player, and slowly slide the fader for that channel up to the volume you want; if you get feedback, slide the fader back down a little bit until feedback stops. Shut everything downTurning everything off is done in reverse order from turning everything on: Push the "Mute" buttons on the channels you used so that the red "mute" light is on. Push the "Mute" button on the Mono output in the center section. Go back to the electrical room and turn off the sound equipment in this order: The black switch on the Crown 800 amplifier at the bottom The black switch on the Crown 480 amplifier next to the bottom Do not turn off black switch on the silver "Bose" strip; leave it on The red switch on the black power strip at the top Turn off the power strip for the gray cabinet to the right, located at the top right of the cabinet. Turn off the power strip for the desk, located at the right just under the work surface. You're done! If you get in trouble, my cell phone number is at the top of the middle module... call me!Jonathan | ||||||||
